I noticed that the Power Steering fluid on my Mk3 Mondeo has turned black so it needs changing. Whats the best DIY method of changing the oil A M8 of mine said all you have to do is undo one of the unions on the PS pump and drain it that way, is that correct or is there a better/correct way of doing it. Thanks Paul The Focus MK3/MK3.5 lower gearbox mounts are known to be quite soft to reduce vibrations. This is a product feature and not a problem. The downside is that the engine can move quite a bit. Changing the gearbox mount for a standard version will probably not solve the problem. Putting the car in another gear first usually solves the issue. I wouldn't recommend forcing it in - that will damage something. I have changed the gearbox oil with some decent quality synthetic oil - that did make it a bit better. I have checked and adjusted the selector cables - no change. My next step will be to bleed the clutch. UPDATE: it seems that this is only a temporary fix. Over time and despite applying more grease and oil the change is getting more stiff and awkward to change. I have given up and I have had the gear linkage replaced (the parts alone cost £127+vat).
